Cargo Lifts

Service Description

Here’s a breakdown of what the process usually entails: 1. Estimating Phase This is the planning stage where the contractor or lift company works with you to determine needs, cost, and feasibility. Site Evaluation Measure the height from ground to the upper deck/landing. Check soil or foundation conditions where the lift will be mounted. Identify available mounting surfaces (concrete slab, wood pilings, seawall, etc.). Assess for obstacles (railings, power lines, overhangs, trees). Load Requirements Decide the weight capacity needed (typical lifts range 750–1,500 lbs). Consider size of the platform for items like groceries, furniture, or even small equipment. Permitting/Engineering Many coastal counties (including Lee & Monroe in FL) require permits. Engineering drawings may be required if the lift attaches to structural components. Cost Estimate Equipment cost (lift kit, motor, cable/track system, controls). Labor (installation, electrical hookup). Permitting fees (county/city). Optional add-ons (remote controls, safety gates, custom platform sizes). 2. Installation Phase Once the plan and cost are approved, the contractor installs the lift. Foundation & Mounting Prep Pour a concrete pad or reinforce an existing slab for the base. Install anchor posts or steel supports (depending on lift type). Lift Assembly Mount guide rails or track system. Install lift motor (electric winch or hydraulic system). Attach platform, cable, pulleys, and safety devices. Electrical Hookup Dedicated breaker and weatherproof wiring for the motor. Controls installed at top and bottom landings. Safety & Testing Verify smooth travel of the platform. Test emergency stop features. Inspect mounting bolts, cables, and safety latches. Inspection & Approval Local building department may require inspection for final approval. Warranty registration and homeowner training.
