Painting
Service Description
Painting a New Home Since everything is unfinished, the process is usually cleaner and more straightforward: Surface Preparation Clean drywall, plaster, or wood. Sand surfaces smooth. Caulk gaps and fill nail holes. Apply drywall compound and sand flush. Priming Prime new drywall, plaster, or raw wood (helps seal and ensures even paint coverage). Painting Apply at least 2 coats of interior paint (walls, ceilings, trim). Apply 1–2 coats exterior paint (siding, stucco, masonry, etc.). Finishing Touches Paint doors, baseboards, crown molding, window trim. Touch-ups after other trades finish (plumbing, electrical, flooring). Painting an Existing Home Here, more prep work is usually required: Inspection & Protection Move furniture, cover floors, tape off edges. Check for damage: cracks, holes, stains, water damage, mold. Surface Prep Scrape off peeling paint. Sand rough or glossy surfaces. Patch drywall/plaster. Wash walls (especially kitchens/bathrooms). Caulk trim or window gaps. Priming (if needed) On repaired areas, stains, dark-to-light color changes, or old bare wood. Painting Apply 2 coats of paint (walls, ceilings, trim). Repaint doors, cabinetry, railings, and exterior surfaces if included. Cleanup & Touch-ups Remove painter’s tape, reinstall outlet covers, clean splatters. Final walkthrough to ensure consistency. Key Difference Between New vs Existing Homes New Home: More primer, less cleaning. Surfaces are bare and ready. Existing Home: More prep and repairs (cleaning, sanding, patching, sealing).
